Welcome to the Applied Psychology and Human Factors group website. Launched in January 2019, the APHF group consists of academic staff, researchers and PhD students from the University of Aberdeen’s School of Psychology whose research is grounded within applied psychology. Led by Dr Amy Irwin the APHF group aims to promote applied research through monthly research meetings, presentations, events and collaborations with organisations.

Research

HUMAN FACTORS
Encompassing non-technical skills, operations, visual search and normalisation of deviance, our human factors research spans from agriculture to aviation.

EDUCATION & DEVELOPMENT
Our education and development research currently includes graduate attributes, student employability, student resilience and student engagement.

APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY
The applied psychology strand focuses on workplace incivility (primarily in the veterinary context), the use of AI, and menopause.

COLLABORATIONS & CONSULTANCY
The APHF team work in collaboration with organisations across multiple industries, and can also conduct consultancy work.
