Attitudes towards non-technical skills
Despite the acknowledged importance of non-technical skills (NTS) in multiple high risk industries, including farming, there is a lack of research assessing factors that might be associated with these skills.
This online survey study evaluated a range of individual and environmental factors as potential predictors of attitudes toward NTS in agriculture.
The results indicated that attitudes toward safety climate, compliance, and motivation were linked to both team-based and lone worker NTS. The personality trait conscientiousness correlated positively with the majority of the NTS elements (more conscientious individuals tended to have a positive attitude towards NTS).
