Dr Amy Irwin, Applied Psychologist (a.irwin@abdn.ac.uk)
Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Aberdeen
Dr Irwin lectures on Human factors and Industrial Psychology at the University of Aberdeen. Her applied research focuses on three main areas: Non-technical skills in high risk industry, the impact of rudeness and incivility at work, and student employability.
Dr Irwin is the lead researcher for NTSAg, and has conducted three published projects on non-technical skills in farming to date. Dr Irwin’s main focus within the topic of NTS in agriculture are factors influencing NTS and safety in farming, agriculture risk management, and speaking up about safety.

Oliver Hamlet, PhD student
Applied Psychology at the University of Aberdeen
Oliver is a human-factors based psychology PhD student from the University of Aberdeen. Having previously studied human-factors over the course of his undergraduate and Masters studies, Oliver is currently undertaking a 3 year ESRC/SGSSS funded research project to investigate the non-technical skills utilised by offshore transport and search and rescue helicopter pilots.
Ilinca Ruxandra-Tone, MRes student
Applied Psychology at the University of Aberdeen
Ilinca graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a first class Psychology degree in 2017. After spending a year in industry she has returned to the University to begin her postgraduate studies. Ilinca has particular interests in lone working, conflict management and risk perception. Her initial work will explore risk perception in the context of livestock management – look for invites to take part in her study in the coming months!
Gabi Lipan, PhD student
University of Aberdeen.
Gabi is currently studying graduate attributes in Higher Education. Gabi also has a great deal of experience in marketing and design, and has had a hand in the design and development of the posters and leaflets available via this site.
Róisín Harrison, Undergraduate Psychology student
University Aberdeen
Róisín is currently in her third year of studying Psychology at the University of Aberdeen. She is interested in applied psychology research and aims to pursue postgraduate study after she completes her undergraduate degree.
Róisín’s role in the NTS Ag project is predominantly administrative; doing most of the correspondence with attendees of the workshop on the 26th of April. She also contributes to information leaflets and materials for the workshop.
