One of the core aims of the APHF group is to support the transfer of research findings to research impact – creating tools, materials and activities designed to be useful, and supportive, across a variety of industries.

We have created tools and applications in a variety of formats, all of which are available for free:

  • Behavioral marker systems: These are essentially handbooks outlining a specific non-technical skills framework (the cognitive and social skills necessary for safe and effective job performance), and associated assessment guidance, for industry. The systems can be used to support training, assessment, briefing and debriefing, toolbox talks, and communication about non-technical skills – all of which have the capacity to enhance safety and work performance.
  • Toolkits: These comprise of a set of dedicated materials, activities, and support for specific named issues (such as workplace incivility, or safety at work). Materials can include guidebooks, information leaflets, guidance for group activities and more.
  • Checklists: These are developed using research findings to highlight key checks that can enhance safety.
  • Information leaflets: These are designed to present ‘bitesize’ research findings in a concise and engaging way.
