Croatian local workshops in the framework of the POAM project were run by the Faculty of Law Osijek. To reach the widest area of participants interested in the intersection of domestic violence and international child abduction, the workshops were held in Zagreb (4th June) and Osijek (6th June).

Both events brought together esteemed judges of general municipal and county courts (civil, criminal, misdemeanor), a judge of the Supreme Court judge as well as specialized child abduction judges, representatives of the Central Authority, police, social workers, lawyers, NGO and academics. The workshops were attended by the nominated national contact points for Slovenia and Serbia.

The programme of the workshops was as follows: a presentation of the legal regime pertaining to child abduction; a presentation of the protective measures regime (in respect of a child and in respect of an abducting mother); a presentation of the European Protection Measures Regulation and the European Protection Order Directive in general and in the context of return proceedings. Fruitful discussions that followed confirmed the fact that the POAM project topic was well chosen and that the project outputs have the potential to gradually contribute to a wider application of the EU protective measures package.
